Jeremy Gates

Commercial Dancer (Australia & United States)

Jeremy moved out of his home at Ulladulla at a young age to pursue his dream of becoming a commercial dancer. He received his training at Urban Dance Centre (Sydney) under leading industry professionals such as Juliet Verne, Veronica George, Jason Winters plus many others. The following year Jeremy represented Australia at the World Hip Hop Championships in the United States with Phly Crew and was a lead dancer in music videos, festivals, clubs & corporate events across Australia and on national & Chinese TV.

Ballet Student (Australia & Germany)

Jeremy started ballet at 18 years old under the training & direction of Julia Regi, who soon introduced him to the late Tanya Pearson OAM, where he took up a full scholarship with the Tanya Person Academy. Upon graduation Jeremy embarked on a European audition tour with a one-way ticket and his life packed into a suitcase! Jeremy was offered several positions, deciding to move to Mannheim, Germany where he continued his classical ballet studies at the selective Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, Germany. Jeremy trained in the Russian (Vaganova) technique under the direction of Stuttgart Ballets’ former, world- renowned principal dancers training in everything from ballet & repertoire to contemporary, German language & more. He toured the country dancing classical ballets & contemporary works from choreographers all over the world.

Principal Dancer (Germany)

At the age of 21, Jeremy received a soloist contract with the Thuringian State Ballet in Germany under the direction of Silvana Schroder, and then went on to dance principal roles from classical ballets & contemporary works in Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Waiting room, Keimzeit, Der Joker, 27, Piaf La Vie en Rose & more. Jeremy also danced in musicals & operas such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Merry Widow, Chess, Jekyll and Hyde, to name a few.

During his time in Germany he flew back multiple times to Australia and guested with the Sydney City Youth Ballet, Central Dance Company and the Byron Ballet in The Nutcracker, Paquita & Coppélia.

Ballet Teacher

Five years later, Jeremy had a career-ending back injury and after months of rehabilitation, moved home to Australia to teach ballet. He taught at a range of schools for six years, most notably Tanya Pearson Academy when it was under the direction of Lucinda Dunn OAM and Marie Walton-Mahon OAM. Many of his students won national & international competitions. Jeremy also adjudicated ballet sections at eisteddfods and for 3 years was a resident columnist for Dancetrain Magazine, writing 14 articles. He taught at many workshops, his favourite being with Adam Bull (Australian Ballet) at the Boy’s Summer School, encouraging the next generation of male dancers. Jeremy also
led auditions and gave company class for the Central Dance Company founded & directed by Patti Gleeson.

University Student & Management Consultant

Jeremy always had an interest in business, economics & investing and whilst teaching ballet 6 days a week he studied full time at the University of Technology (UTS) with a Bachelor of Business. After graduating with Distinction & receiving the Award for Accounting in 2019, Jeremy worked as a management consultant doing Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations & People Advisory for a large range of multi-million / billion
dollar companies in Australia & New Zealand across industries such as Retail, the Education sector, FMCG, Banking, Health, Renewable Energy, Government & Not-For- Profit. Jeremy gained immense experience in just few short years but it always felt like
a job to him and something he wasn’t strongly passionate about. Jeremy quickly realised this wasn’t the career for him and despite the high-status job and the high-earning potential, Jeremy followed his heart. He quit his job, moved out of his apartment, sold his car and headed to Southeast Asia for the cliché ‘find-yourself trip’. In this life- changing adventure Jeremy figured it out....!

Ballet Teacher and High Performance Coach

Jeremy has always gained more satisfaction by helping others achieve their dreams than achieving his own. Whether it was in his sport teams, dance groups, hiking exhibitions or with his 5 younger siblings, Jeremy always strived to inspire & motivate people to dream big a&d succeed. He strongly believes in helping people achieve their full potential & live healthier & happier lives - whether becoming the top 1% and dancing professionally in Australia, Europe or North America or completing the final level of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.
